Foto México builds on a 20-year legacy that established Fotoseptiembre as Mexico's most important photography festival in order to transform it into a new way of exhibiting and reflecting on photography in the 21st century. In its first year the festival will provide a broad survey of the domestic and international photography collections.
Foto México will be held from October to December, 2015 in Mexico City and 20 cities from Mexico. Its opening will take place in the Centro de la Imagen on October 27th and the events will continue until November 6th.
One of the main objectives of this festival is to foster international and Mexican collections participation, as well as that of historical archives' in order to examine the role of photography in the construction of our heritage. The festival is open to general public that could have the opportunity to approach to photography collections, as well as to curators, administrators, historians, archivists, and photographers who will gather to discuss and provide a vision to the current situation of photography in Mexico.
Featuring over 130 exhibitions in 122 venues of 33 cities in 21 states, the exhibition program of Foto México has been organized in five themes according to the nature of the shown collections and the variety of subjects of the exhibitions:

• Image and Community
• Image Network
In addition Foto México will feature a series of parallel activities such as the workshop Collecting Photography in the 21st Century and Fotobservatorio: Presenting and Discussing Photography Archives, as well as a panel discussion on contemporary photography in Mexico and several educational activities for children.
Foto México becomes an essential appointment for those passionate on photography and a gathering place not only for photographers but also for specialists, curators, gallerists, collectors, editors and general public.
