For this show, we assembled a singular Cabinet of Collectables, an installation in which a «synchronological» dialogue is established between selected discoveries: ancient photographs accompanied by period artifacts whose conception and configuration lend them the possibility of being appreciated as utilitarian works of art.

Beginning with the camera obscura, and then sailing through time in an overview of various photographic documents and devices, we embark on a voyage to the distant lands of fantasy and truth, to the baffling appearances of preserved portions of reality: artifice and games of illusions captured by our ancestors. Eternal memories preserved on copper sheets, glass or syrup-coated plates, in the alchemy of silver, platinum, collodion, albumen, palladium, in stereoscopic, three-dimensional slides and in an endless array of other processes.

Thus we construct a voyage expressed through authentic conversation pieces, rather than through replicas that do not contain the past and do not clearly express the complex reality or the wonders that are the result of inventiveness and imagination. | Jorge Carretero Madrid
