The images that comprise the album of David Forsberge from Sweden seem to coincide with others by Hugo Brehme in other archives in different parts of the world. This collection was created during countless visits that Forsberg made to Mexico between 1909 and 1919. The photographs were kept in a photography album for their safekeeping and we now know that most of them have never been published or exhibited. However, the exhibit will reveal the acute and exquisite vision of a photographer who captured Mexico at the beginnings of the 20th century. The photographs mainly show the states of Veracruz, Oaxaca, Colima, Hidalgo, Morelos and Querétaro.

This valuable collection is exhibited thanks to the fact that the photographic album reached the Mexican Embassy in Sweden as a donation from Forsberg’s grandson, Hakan Schreil. Our care and great appreciation for this collection will be manifest not only in the zeal with which it will be kept, but also in the interest and necessity to disseminate it widely.
