My interest in the topic of the body led me to undertake a documentary project with boxers. I still wanted to give it a specific meaning, and so decided to make it an exploration of male vulnerability. For this purpose I photographed boxers from different disciplines and sought to distance myself from the mere depiction of the sport. Bringing the topic back into my own context, I looked for images that referred to pain and frailty.
Inspired in the painting of the saint and martyr Sebastian, Ex Corde—a Latin expression that means "from the heart"—attempts to assess human experience.

Mexico City, 1976. Studied communications at the Universidad Iberoamericana and also took courses at the Escuela Activa de Fotografía. His work was featured in the IV Bienal de Fotoperiodismo in 2000. He has worked as a photojournalist for Reforma newspaper, among other publications, and has covered various official domestic and international events. He followed several workshops at the International Center of Photography in New York and took the independent study diploma program at Escuela BlankPaper in Madrid. He is currently working as a freelance photographer in Mexico City.
